Greetings All!

Hey there! My name is Rand, and I have lived in the Western New York area all of my life. Fishing, shooting, hunting, and playing/working with motor vehicles have all been main hobbies of mine since I could walk. Well maybe not since I could walk, but you get the idea. I work in a music store…play guitar and sing…and I am very active at my church. I have met some of my best friends and fishing buddies at church. They are pretty awesome people! Well that’s enough about me in a general overview. Let’s get into what my site is about…
FLY FISHING!!! I started fly fishing when I was about 8 years old. My father bought me a real basic Pflueger fly outfit for my birthday after I showed some interest in the sport. My father is an awesome person, and has definitely been the greatest influence in my life. He took me fishing when I was about 4 years old and I have been hooked ever since! He also taught me respect for the environment; we are strong supporters of catch and release. All of the fish in the photos shown on this site were carefully caught, handled, and released. So my fly fishing journey started at a young age, fishing at the local ponds and such for bluegills and bass. It didn’t take me long to start to get the itch to learn how to tie my own flies. That being said, I was tying my own flies by the time I was 9. No patterns were followed, so there were some pretty crazy “creatures” that came out of that time of experimentation. Soon after I bought some different tying manuals and started tying flies that would work for trout. You can get a bluegill or a bass to hit anything…but trout are a finicky pain in the rump! Hahaha! Fast forwarding a few years…RIT. I went to school at RIT for manufacturing engineering. That came with its ups and downs…more downs than ups…but I did find a very important kick-start in my fly fishing while attending RIT. Scottsville, NY. All I can say is…whoa. Everywhere I looked, I saw a brown trout. No exaggeration. The first time I walked down to the stream, no rod in hand, I spooked 6-8 browns that had been basking in the sun next to shore. I was instantly hooked on fly fishing for trout…and I didn’t even have a rod in my hand! The journey had officially started…
Now it’s 4 years later. I have met some great fishing buddies, and found numerous new places to fish. Follow me on my journey as I take you to different streams, fishing for various species of trout, year round, with only my fly rod(s), boxes, a camera, and life-long friends. Let us begin our journey…
Let’s GO!!!!!!
